Baptism...

Our baptism celebrations are the highlight of the Hillside ministry season. We baptize twice a year (usually in October and May) and we throw a huge “party” to do so. We have one Sunday morning service and set up a pool in our front lawn and celebrate what Christ has done in peoples’ hearts. After the baptism we have lunch and have games for the kids and a time for food, fun, and fellowship.  Our next Baptism will take place Sunday, May 18th at 9:00am.  It will be Brekfast and Baptism followed by a time of fellowship and fun activities for the kids.   If you are interested in being baptized during our spring Baptism, please register at the link below and plan to attend a Baptism Informational Meeting.  We have two available times which are Saturday, May 3rd from 6:30-7:00pm and Sunday, May 4th from 12:45-1:15pm.  If it is your child that is interested in being baptized, please visit our Children's Ministry/Baptism-Jump Start web page to learn when the children's informational meetings are.

Below is Hillside’s Statement on Baptism

• We understand baptism to be only for those who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
• We believe baptism is an act of obedience by those who subject themselves to His sovereignty.
• We believe baptism symbolizes the spiritual cleansing and conversion of believers and is thus an essential part of one’s faith, but does not in and of itself save.
• We baptize by immersion, and honor other modes of baptism (sprinkling, pouring etc.) as long as it occurred after personal belief in Christ and was understood by the one being baptized. Otherwise we rebaptize.
• Children may be baptized, as long as they are old enough to understand and receive the gospel, are able to give testimony to others of their faith, and are given permission by their parents.
• As a biblical rite of initiation into the body of Christ, baptism of believers is considered a prerequisite for joining the membership of the church.
