These last two years Hillside has formed a “focused relationship” with Union Gospel Mission (UGM) in downtown Fort Worth. Union Gospel assists homeless men, women, and children to get back on their feet. Dean Reed leads our ministry to UGM and his contact number is (214) 538-9885. Attending a Volunteer Orientation class at UGM is required for adults prior to participation. Children under the age of 12 are not allowed.

Volunteer Orientation

To volunteer at Union Gospel Mission, you must first complete a mandatory orientation class.   Each orientation takes approximately one hour. Children 12 and under are not allowed. Check back for more upcoming orientation classes.

Craft Nights with Gals

Periodically the ladies of Hillside will do a “craft night” with the lady residents of UGM. They are a great way to spend time with these special gals and have some fun at the same time!  You must have attended a training session in the past or one the upcoming sessions in order to attend.  For more information, contact Kelly Shaine at agreatnewlife@yahoo.com.

Guys Game Day

Periodically the guys will organize a “game day” with the men of UGM, playing some bingo and video games with the guys. Great way to build some relationships with the guys at UGM. You must have attended a training session in the past or one of the upcoming sessions in order to attend this event. For more information, contact Travis Niemeyer at travis.niemeyer@gmail.com.

ALPHA Program

ALPHA is a Biblical discipleship program provided to the residents of UGM every Thursday night. UGM is looking for some small group leaders for both the men and women’s groups this spring. If you are interested in learning more about the ALPHA program, men, please contact Dean Reed at (214) 538-9885. Ladies, contact Debbie Blackwell at 817-992-0760. Click here to find out about UGM’s Emergency Needs.

Union Gospel Mission is always in need of donations. These emergency donations can be put in the credenza in the Want More area and they will be delivered to Union Gospel Mission for you.

In addition to the emergency needs, you can always donate clothes, or new or gently used items to furnish the apartments of graduating residents. These items include furniture (no mattresses or box springs), dishes, glasses, silverware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, small working appliances, bed and bath linens, TVs, lamps, clocks, laundry baskets and waste baskets. Please either call the hotline listed below or take them down to Union Gospel Mission. Hillside is not able to take substantial donations such as these. You can call their donation hotline at (817) 284-3255 to set-up a pick-up or take the donations down to the Mission.
