Sin and Sickness, James 5:13-15
Discussion & Practice
- Read James 5:13-18. James instructs believers to pray when they are suffering and to sing praises when they are cheerful (v. 13). How does this verse challenge our typical responses to hardships and blessings?
- Read John 5:14. What are some ways that being "sin-sick" is worse than being physically sick?
- Read John 9:1-3. How can God show his glory through your physical sickness or other issues? How have you seen that personally?
- Read Matthew 8:16-17 & Isaiah 53:4-5: How many ways can you think of that Jesus has borne our physical and spiritual illnesses?
- In what ways has sin hindered you personally from living life to the fullest for the glory of God? And how does physical sickness force you to slow down and consider where you need healing most in your life?
- How have you personally experienced God's healing, either physically or spiritually?
**Prayer + Practice: **
Go deeper in prayer this week by identifying your spheres of influence and going on prayer walks in your neighborhood. Pray for God to provide healing for the physical and spiritual sicknesses in people's lives.
