Music: The Universal Language
Notes
- Read Psalm 147:1. This verse says that singing to God is “good,” “pleasant,” and “fitting.”Why do you think God commands singing rather than merely suggesting it?
- Read Ephesians 5:18-20. According to verse 19, singing is something we do both to one another and also to the Lord. How does this dual direction of worship change the way you think about congregational singing?
- Read Revelation 15:2-4. Those singing in this passage are said to have "conquered the beast." Their worship is an act of defiant allegiance to the Lamb. When in your life has adoration been an act of resistance against fear, sin, or cultural pressure that reinforces your first allegiance to the Lord?
- Read Revelation 18:21-22. Revelation 18 describes a moment when music stops in Babylon as a sign of judgment. What does this suggest about the spiritual importance of worshipping the Lord through song?
- Read Revelation 5:9-12. This passage shows every tribe, tongue, and nation singing one unified song. How does corporate worship on Sundays point toward this future reality?
- This passage says, “Worthy are you… for you were slain.” Why does remembering the cross fuel our singing more than anything else?
- What is one way you can start preparing your heart each week before we worship together?
