Eden Revisited: The First Christmas
Notes
- Read Genesis 3:14-15. Notice how the curse also contains the first seed of Christmas. What particular details of the curse actually contain hope?
- Read Luke 2:10-11. How does understanding Eden as the first promise of Christmas deepen your sense of wonder when you hear the angel’s announcement in Luke?
- Read Galatians 4:4-5. What do you think is meant here when it says "the fullness of time had come"? How does that phrase connect back to the long-awaited promise in Genesis 3:15?
- Read Revelation 22:1–5. This passage describes a future that looks like a restored Eden. How does the hope of the “last Christmas” help you endure the brokenness between Eden and Eternity?
- Read 2 Corinthians 5:21. If Christ became sin for you, what sin, guilt, or regret are you still carrying that he already carried to the cross? What would it look like to release that burden and walk in the freedom his righteousness provides?
- Christmas began with a promise before it was a celebration. What promise of God do you need to cling to right now, even if you don’t yet see its fulfillment?
