Lights Out, Revelation 2:1-8
Notes
- Read Revelation 2:1-7. What stands out to you the most from the passage or from the sermon?
- What are some specific qualities Jesus commended the church of Ephesus for and what issue does he find with them?
- When Jesus says the Ephesian church had abandoned the love they had at first, Pastor Pete said this love refers in large part to their lack of love for the lost. What are some ways that our love for the lost can grow cold even in a flurry of activity in ministry?
- The churches in Revelation are all geographically located and have specific people in mind. Who has God placed in your life as your focus for witness? Who are the specific people around you who need to hear the gospel?
- Where has your witness waned at times towards these specific people, whether in prayer or in actively pursuing opportunities to share Christ with them?
- Think back to what characterized your walk with Jesus when you first became a Christian. Where is God calling you to Remember, Repent, and Return to the things you did at first?
- Group Exercise: What would your letter read? If Jesus were to write a letter to our church or your small group, what are some things you think Jesus might commend us for or call us to repentance in our own worship and witness?
